How it works

How our ranking works

Simple, fair, and it rewards every match.

You have two numbers

⚡ TTR rating

How strong you are. One number, one scale - it changes after every official match.

🏆 Season points

Who won the most this season. Points scale with the tournament tier; resets every year.

Where you start

New players start at 1000 points and carry a "provisional" badge until they have played 30 matches. Until then the rating moves faster, to find your true level.

How your rating changes

After every match the two players exchange points:

Beat someone stronger → you take more
Lose to someone weaker → you give more

A loss always costs points, never adds them - but losing to a much stronger opponent costs almost nothing.

How many points do you win or lose?

It depends on how surprising the match was. An expected win earns little (sometimes just 1-2 points), while beating a stronger player earns noticeably more. The same on a loss: you lose little to a stronger opponent, more to a weaker one. A single match moves at most about 16 points, which is why you see values like +5, +8 or -9. Only who wins counts, not the game score - and over time you climb only if you actually get better.

Season points - by tournament tier

A stronger day = more points. And every round deeper in the bracket is worth roughly double the previous one - so every finish counts, not just the podium.

Frequently asked questions

Do friendly matches count?

No. Only official tournament matches change your rating and award season points.

Why did my rating drop?

Losing to a lower-ranked opponent costs more than losing to a stronger one. That is normal - the system constantly calibrates you against your real form.

When does it update?

TTR is recomputed every night; season points are awarded as soon as a tournament finishes.

What if I do not play for a while?

After 24 months without a match the rating slowly starts to decay, to reflect the break. It recovers as soon as you play a new match.

Where does this system come from? Did you invent it?

No. TTR is the established table-tennis rating system (myTischtennis / the German federation). We use the same maths: a divisor of 150 in the win probability, a change constant K between 16 and 32 by age and experience, and the same rule for a gap over 224 points. Your numbers follow the recognised standard, not something we made up.
